CALM YOUR MIND: 4 WAYS TO GET OUT OF YOUR HEAD
We all have those moments (or days) when we get in our heads too much. Our constant stream of thought often runs the show. When you need to get out of your own head and into a calm zone, here’s what to do:
RECITE A MANTRA AND STICK WITH IT
Mantras are tremendously helpful, as they can instantly center us. It helps you focus less on crazy stuff, including thoughts like “my life is a complete failure.” It also encourages you to focus on the present moment.
Here is a mantra to say to yourself or out loud:
“I am the creator of my life. Whatever I think about creates my reality.”
PAY ATTENTION TO OUTSIDE NOISE
Now that you’re in the present moment, you want to stay there. A great way to do this is to simply listen to the sounds around you and reconnect with your environment. for example, notice the sounds of cars driving by just pause and listen to the fan is calming. It can help put you back in your body and out of your head. It also slows your breathing. Dare I say, it’s a mini-meditation?
FOCUS ON SOMEONE ELSE
When we shift our focus from ourselves to something or someone else, we naturally become more powerful, lighter, and stronger. Who can you call? What can you do right now to help someone? It’s a win, win. You’ll feel happier, more connected, and uplifted almost immediately.
REMEMBER TO STAY IN THE ‘PRESENT’
Help yourself by constantly remembering this: The past is over & the future is being created in the present moment by your thinking. You will never have to handle a single thing that is not in the present moment.
